It had been almost 3 months since I had been on a trek, with the last being sharavathi valley in dec. This prompted me to go for an impromptu trek to chennarayanadurga a small hillock located near tumkur.

I proposed this to my friend kiran, who also joined for the trek.  After picking him up we headed towards dabbaspet on sat. As there was less traffic early in the morning, we were able to make good progress. With the weather being chilly, we took a small break at a hotel for cuppa near the flyover, before proceeding further. Misery awaited us a little ahead as my bike tire got punctured. After losing about half an hour, in getting the puncture sorted out, we headed to kamat upachar for breakfast, before heading to koratagere. With the sun already beating down on us, we proceeded further, taking a few breaks in between.

On reaching koratagere, upon asking for directions, we were told to go to thumbadi and take a left at the arch and proceed forward. We soon reached the base of channarayanadurga.

We started the climb towards the fort located at the top of the hill. The climb is pretty steep from the beginning and it took me time to get adjusted. With the sun beating down, the going was pretty slow. Soon we were the entrance of the fort. We took a break inside the fort.

The fort is a multi level fort built by channapa gowda a hoysala chieftain. The first level of the fort contains a temple and a small pond.

Climbing further we reached the second level of the fort. The fort is damaged, however we could see the graineries and also the dilapidated wall of the fort. From top we could see a range of hills

Having spent some time at the fort, we began our descent. Descent was quick and we soon reached the first level of the fort. Taking a short break there we proceeded our descent to the base.

With, the trek done, there was still enough time left, hence we went to devarayanadurga which was closest. With good scenary keeping us occupied, we reached devarayanadurga at noon.

After a darshan at the temple, kiran went to have lunch, which was served by the temple. After spending some time there e headed back to Bangalore
